I don't need to tell you how big internet marketing is. Every day there are thousands of new blog posts, articles, YouTube videos, and more spreading across the internet. And a good percentage of those are done by internet marketers. So the competition is growing each and every day.
But local marketing is not too saturated yet. It is not some super-easy thing that a monkey could do, as many people might tell you. But I do believe it is easier than affiliate marketing. If you have done any kind of internet marketing- writing blog posts, setting up WordPress sites, or anything else then I think you should be able to help local businesses.
Depending on your skills, here are a few ways to make money with local marketing. Just pick one idea and stick to it, or use many of them and charge businesses even more for your time.
First of all, if you have ever used WordPress, then you should be able to make a company website for someone if they don't already have one. Make it look kind of professional and then charge them for the site, or just "rent" out the site to them each month.
If you know anything about search engine optimization, then you can add some basic tweaks and information to that company website and it should rank better. And of course you will be able to charge them more for a website that actually brings in customers.
You don't need to be great at making professional looking websites though. Use your SEO skills and make any kind of WordPress blog, and it should rank well and get some traffic. It doesn't have to be pretty if it gets them customers...so just make any type of website and if it performs well you can charge them for it.
There are lots of other little ways to make money helping local businesses though. One easy way is to just help them set up a page on Google Places. Then you could always charge them for extra services such as article writing, social media help, creating videos and ads for their business that you can put on YouTube, helping them with mobile marketing campaigns, or copywriting ideas for their direct marketing.
The possibilities are endless really. No matter what your skillset is, if you have done any marketing online, then you should able to help small businesses get more exposure from the internet.
